The Spanish Association of Security Companies (AES) was founded in the early 1980s with clear objectives:
- to ensure respect for the principles of professional ethics in the private security sector;
- to promote the promulgation of regulations and legal provisions to encourage the development, research and improvement of security equipment, methods and systems;
- to represent and defend its members before the State Administration and all kinds of persons, entities, bodies and institutions;
- to promote the interests of its members through press, radio and television broadcasting and to exchange information, opinions and experiences that affect its members;
- to act as mediator in conflicts arising between companies in the security sector and the promotion of research and study in the field of security.
