In memory of the victims of the Hong Kong high-rise fire

At a time of such profound loss, it is important to stand in solidarity with the affected community. We honour the courage of residents, neighbours, frontline responders, and volunteers who risked their own safety to help others. Their strength reminds us of the resilience and compassion that emerge even in the darkest moments.

While investigations continue and many questions remain, this is also a moment for reflection. Catastrophic fires, though rare, can spread quickly in dense urban environments and large residential structures. 

Awareness and education can help strengthen overall preparedness and reduce the potential impact of building fires by encouraging individuals to remain aware of their surroundings, stay informed about basic fire-safety practices, and report any concerns that could compromise safety. Building owners and managers play an important role by maintaining safe environments, ensuring that fire-safety measures are in place, and fostering clear communication with occupants. At the community level, promoting awareness, supporting those who may need assistance, and encouraging a shared sense of responsibility can all contribute to safer living environments and improved resilience in the event of a fire.
