Euralarm celebrates 30 years of Single Market

This year Euralarm celebrates the establishing of the Single Market on 1 January 1993. It followed the signing of the Maastricht Treaty on 7 February 1992 and today still is one of the major achievements of European integration, and one of its key drivers.

Thanks to the Single Market, the EU has been able to improve the lives of all Europeans. It has accelerated the transition to a greener and more digital economy and has allowed consumers to trust that all products on the Single Market are safe and based on high standards.

The members of the European fire safety and security industry want to contribute to driving sustainable growth that will further strengthen the EU’s Single Market, attract investment to Europe, and expand global markets for European companies. To do this the Euralarm members are since the founding of the association more than 50 years ago, continuously assessing the opportunities and the challenges that they are facing to identify the priorities that will allow Europe to advance as a prosperous, safe society and global actor.

Indeed, one of Euralarm's strategic priorities is developing a strong Single Market and expanding global markets for quality products and services. Euralarm members are turning emerging technologies into sustainable solutions and as are they advancing knowledge and innovation. Accomplishing a strong Single Market also requires a strong focus on co-operation and partnership. By working together, Euralarm believes to achieve a safer and more secure society for Europe and build an industry that contributes to sustainable growth in Europe.

On the 30th anniversary Euralarm partner Orgalim published the Position Paper 'Internal Market: Securing Europe’s industrial competitiveness – An agenda to recommit to the Single Market' . The document can be downloaded here.
