Euralarm at European Industry Day

The European Industry Day was the occasion for a major conference held in Brussels on February 28th, with over 400 participants from all areas of Industry. The conference reviewed the current EU initiatives but also debated new ideas on a joint vision for the long-term future of European industry.

Following the publication of the service standard for fire and security systems EN 16763, various European countries are now exploring compliance solutions adapted their own market. 

Euralarm have been involved over the past 3 years in the revision of the standard EN 50518 for Monitoring and Alarm Receiving Centres. The existing version is split into three parts and is limited to alarms from intruder and hold up systems.

On March 16th at the Hotel Bloom in Brussels, a stakeholder workshop, organised by CEN-CENELEC will take place to focus on security and cybersecurity, a pillar of the European standardisation platform’s annual work programme.

Draft policy document for future standardisation in security systems now open for public comment.

Peter Massingberd-Mundy, a standardisation expert active within various Technical Groups of the Euralarm Fire Section, has been confirmed this week as the newly elected Chairman of the European Committee for Standardisation’s Technical 72 Fire detection and fire alarm systems, CEN/TC 72.

Focus on Swiss Euralarm Member: SES

SES is the Swiss Association of Installers of Safety and Security Systems. Like many other associations within Euralarm it builds its reputation on a commitment to excellence. In an industry with the objective and purpose to save lives, protect people and property, this is a must. 

The EU Parliament IMCO Committee, an acronym standing for Internal Market and Consumer Protection, held a public hearing on European Standards for the 21st Century. The hearing is to proceed a motion for a European Parliament Resolution, formally answering the European Commission Communication: European standards for the 21st century. 

“It is going to be a happy 2017 for security and services in standardisation”, according to CEN-CENELEC, the European platform for standardisation.
