We’re heading towards the end of this year as we’re on the eve of our anniversary year. Next year it will be 50 years ago since Ernst Meili founded Euralarm and laid the foundation for a safer and more secure Europe.
We will be celebrating our 50 years anniversary during a celebration event to be held in Brussels next year in May. We have deliberately chosen Brussels: close to the European Commission and the European Parliament and close to all those who have a strong interest in the European world of standardisation, innovation and cooperation. Close to our friends in European politics as well.
The year 2020 is not only the year in which Euralarm celebrates its anniversary. It will also be the year in which the new European Commission is fully up to speed. We look forward to working closely and openly with all stakeholders and are ready to work with the new and existing parliamentarians on European fire safety and security. As committed Europeans, we want to contribute to driving sustainable growth that will strengthen the EU’s Single Market, attract investment to Europe, and expand global markets for European companies. To do this we are continuously assessing the opportunities and the challenges facing us to identify the priorities that will allow us to advance as a prosperous, safe society and global actor. We welcome anybody willing to discuss these challenges and priorities with us. Working together, we can achieve a safer and more secure society for Europe and build an industry that contributes to sustainable growth in Europe.
If we go back fifty years and look ahead to 2020 with our first President Ernst Meili, the chances of surprise are very high. Amazement about the speed at which developments are taking place, amazement about the digitisation of the world in which we live and work and amazement about the new techniques that have been introduced over the past fifty years. All these changes make one thing clear: the world in which Euralarm operates is in full swing. We must cherish this continuous change because it is precisely through change that we are able to move forward and make the world an even safer place.
I therefore hope that one thing will remain unchanged: the art of continuing to change and develop our market and industry. In this way, during our 50th anniversary, we don't just have to look back, but also work towards a bright future.Martin HarveyEuralarm President
