The 2018 Rolling Plan for ICT standardization

The European Commission recently published the 2018 Rolling Plan for ICT standardisation, which addresses standardisation developments in the field of ICT (information and communication technologies) and link them to EU legislation and policies. This year’s Rolling Plan sees the addition of the blockchain and distributed digital ledger technologies and regulatory technology chapters.

The Rolling Plan for ICT standardisation takes a unique look at EU policies and standardisation activities in the field of ICT, with the objective to increase the convergence of standardisation activities to support European policy goals.

The Rolling Plan is the result of a yearly dialogue between the stakeholders active in the Multi-Stakeholder Platform (MSP) on ICT standardisation. The MSP is composed of representatives of national authorities from EU Member States and EFTA countries, ESOs, fora and consortia, and stakeholder organisations that represent industry, small and medium-sized enterprises and consumers.

This inclusive and participatory approach ensures wide support from the European and international standardisation organisations, associations, EU countries, and key global industrial and technology companies.
