Manufacturers are obliged by this law to declare the performance of most construction products according to the relevant harmonised standards. The CPR sets the framework for the common technical language which is detailed by the relevant harmonised product standard, until now in a written format. The common technical language of the harmonised standards does not yet include digitalisation. The CPR also establishes the possibility to provide the information in a digital format according to Commission Delegated Regulation 157/2014.
The pending task is the development and agreement of a common digital format to provide the requested information in a standardized way and thus to engage and invest in IT tools and concepts. This format will follow a general approach based on the legal documents and some standard specific content to properly serve to the declaration purposes.
This CEN Workshop has been initiated by the European association of construction products manufacturers, CPE (Construction Products Europe), to consolidate their work on a smart CE marking concept in the form of a CEN Workshop Agreement by April 2018.

All interested parties are welcome to register for participation and submit comments on the draft Project Plan to the Workshop Secretary, Lisbet Landfald no later than 4 December 2017.
