The special Eurobarometer 464a on the attitudes of Europeans towards cyber security was published on 13 September. The survey reflects consistent rates of increase in online activity, with ever more respondents in the EU using the internet for their daily activities. At the same time, there are increasing concerns about security aspects and also higher incidents of cybercrimes compared to previous surveys.

The European Commission is reported on actions taken since President Juncker's 2016 State of the Union address to enhance security at the EU external border, improve information exchange between Member States, close down the space in which terrorists operate and prevent radicalisation. A year later, the Commission claims to have delivered on all security related priorities set out by President Juncker. .

The Strategic Advisory Board on Services of CEN-CENELEC, the European standardisation platform and a privileged partner of Euralarm, has developed a ‘Strategic Plan on Services standardisation’, in recognition of the untapped potential for economic growth of the services market in Europe, which Euralarm has long advocated for.

Euralarm announces Symposium 2018

Euralarm has announced its next Symposium, which will take place in Bucharest Romania, on June 4th, 2018. This will be the second time that Romania will host this event, showing the country’s commitment to European electronic fire safety and security.

On 18 August the European Commission published in the Official Journal an Implementing Decision (EU) 2017/1483 amending Decision 2006/771/EC on harmonisation of the radio spectrum for use by short-range devices and repealing Decision 2006/804/EC (OJEU 18.08.2017 L 214/3), which has implications for the electronic safety and security Industry.

On October 10th, CEN-CENELEC, the European Standardisation platform and Euralarm partner, organises a webinar on Standards and IPR at 10:00 CET.

On November 10, at 10:00 CET, the European standardisation platform and Euralarm partner CEN-CENELEC organises a webinar to present the state-of-play on the Joint CEN-CENELEC Working Group 'Online Standardisation Platform'.

The EU Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment is supported by a large number of European standards developed on the European standardisation platform that is CEN-CENELEC.
