European standards define cross-country specifications on products to grant their quality and protect the public’s health, safety and security. Standards are widespread in the building sector, where they have to meet the requirements of the EU’s Construction Products Regulation (CPR).

Euralarm’s Fire Section holds a liaison A status in the International Organisation for Standardisation’s (ISO) Technical Committee for Fire detection and alarm systems ISO/TC 21/SC 3. A liaison A status characterises organisations making an effective contribution to the work of the technical committee, which counts representatives of some 36 countries spread across all continents.

Over the past 3 years, Euralarm Services Section’s main endeavour has been to develop and advance a new European standard, prEN 16763. It defines for the first time the quality level of services for electronic fire safety systems and security systems, to comply with the objectives of the European Service Directive.

Euralarm member APSEI is organising its 5th Proteger Security Conference and exhibition. The event will take place in Estoril, Portugal at the Centro de Congressos, on October 18-20th.
