New "Compliance Information Service" for Euralarm members

Keeping up to date with what seems to be a non-stop deluge of European legislation is a major headache for many companies especially SMEs. Euralarm therefore tasked the Compliance Technical Committee to set up a new COMPLIANCE INFORMATION SERVICE. This will provide COMPLIANCE FACT FILES (CFFs) for each piece of legislation, containing basic information on its significance and point to additional sources of information and guidance as well as offering an e-mail help-desk facility.

The intention was announced in a previous Euralarm Newsletter and elaborated upon at the General Assembly in Valencia in May 2010. Euralarm is pleased to announce that this service is now operational!

The new service
is accessed from the REGULATIONS tab on the home page of the Euralarm web site. This requires authorisation from the standard members log-in, so is immediately available to all members.

When accessing the appropriate page, you will see a list of the Directives / Regulations so far identified as of potential interest to Euralarm members and, by extension, to members of those members. This list may be viewed in its entirety, or by subdivision into categories those items general to all members, those concerned with legislation applicable to product design and compliance issues, those relating to manufacturing processes and those applicable to Service providers. However, please do not view these categories as being mutually exclusive there are aspects in which some items of legislation overlap these categories!

On making a selection from the list, a box will open providing very basic information, including links to the text of the actual Directive / Regulation and to the Euralarm CFF relevant to that Directive where this has been completed.

Periodic Compliance Newsletters will also be issued with general compliance-related information.

An automated advice of all changes to the web page is available to help you to keep up to date.

To complete the service we will provide an e-mail based query service.

Further information is available by clicking on Introduction and terms of use.

HELP YOUR COLLEAGUESPlease bring this service to the attention of staff within your organisation who may be able to benefit from this service. Give them a copy of this Newsletter. Get them to visit the Euralarm web site and select the Regulations tab. This will route them to an application for their own log-in password, which we will get to them as quickly as possible.

HELP US We are sure that you will appreciate that this is a massive task, undertaken by volunteers from Euralarm members and undertaken alongside their normal duties. The service is launched with a limited number of CFFs available, and will be expanded as soon as possible. If you, or anyone you know, could help us to accelerate this process, please get in touch (compliance@euralarm.org) we will be delighted to hear from you!

Your logo on CFFs ... We are not, at this time, able to make this service available direct to members of Euralarm member Trade Associations. However, we hope that member Associations will be able to make this information available to their own members. To assist in this, we have made provision for you to add your own logo alongside the Euralarm one when downloading the CFFs. Simply follow the instructions in the Introduction and terms of use file.

Feedback We will very much appreciate your feedback on what we have done, what we are doing, and what we can further do to improve our service. Please let us know at compliance@euralarm.org.
