Welcome to our new-look Newsletter
Introduction by Dirk Gesenhues (pictured)
Welcome to our new-look, expanded Euralarm newsletter, which includes news from last month's successful annual General Assembly (GA) in Bucharest, Romania.
As Euralarm President Hansjüerg Mahler told the GA delegates, one of our aims has been to significantly improve communications to Euralarm members.
The first step in this process was seen ahead of the GA, when we produced a Special Newsletter covering the important introduction of the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) as a replacement for the Construction Products Directive (CPD).
This two-part special edition Newsletter consists of a useful online summary of the transition from the familiar CPD to the new CPR, together with a hotlink to a full article on the topic by Christian Lais of TC Horizontal Compliance.
This was followed by a second Special Newsletter, posted in June – immediate examples of the moves Euralarm is making to add value to its member services.
GA 2011 success
This Summer 2011 Newsletter includes reports on the GA programme. Feedback from the delegates on the event was very positive, with comments received about the good organisation by our hosts, ARTS, and the travel agency arrangements. The hotel and meeting room accommodation was excellent and most speakers kept within their allotted timeframe, which meant that this year we weren't under pressure to curtail presentations because of overruns.
This year we also introduced a round-table discussion to conclude the GA, which was open to contributions from all delegates, and this proved a good first experience as part of our closer communications with members. During the GA I received a variety of upbeat comments about the programme content that indicate we are definitely moving in the right direction. Although our keynote speaker Dr Christian Ehler, MEP and Chairman of GESA, was unable to attend due to a prior commitment, we arranged for a video message by him to be screened and Dr Ehler mentioned Euralarm's welcome application to join GESA – now the biggest organisation of its kind in Europe.
Beyond the GA…
This newsletter also includes informative articles on the Ukrainan, Romanian and Bulgarian markets, plus news on our latest moves to significantly strengthen Euralarm's lobbying activities with the appointment of a specialist company to help us achieve these ambitious goals.
Additionally, we have a tribute to our much respected Technical Manager Brian Harrington, who'll be retiring from his post shortly, as well as some new faces joining the Euralarm section committees.
I hope you like this fresh approach to the Euralarm newsletter. If you have any comments, we'd like to hear them – please contact Tony Makosinski from TC Marketing with your feedback at newsletter@euralarm.org…
