At the GA in Valencia, we were pleased to be able to announce that the new TC is now active. Along with Brian Harrington (chair), the sections will be represented by:
Fire Section: Derek Harrington
Security Section: Jos van Kampen
Services Section: Dominique Taudin
assisted by a team of specialists acting as care-takers for the various topics. So far about 10 such specialists have been recruited and are working very hard, but with more than 40 items to deal with (half of which are currently being changed or updated in some way!), more care-takers are needed, so if you can help, please let us know!!!
To reinforce our own internal specialists, we have joined the Orgalime Bridgehead.
Orgalime is the European Engineering Industries Association and has very close links with the EC thus providing us not only with up-to-the-minute information about nominated Directives and Regulations, but also a route to input our concerns into the drafting process to influence the final result. We are making good use of this opportunity.
We were also pleased at the enthusiastic response to our proposals for providing all Euralarm members with useful information about European legislation.
The service is to be provided by extending the Euralarm web site to include a dedicated COMPLIANCE section.
This will provide:
- guidance on identifying the legislation most likely to affect you
- a guidance document (Compliance Fact File - CFF) summarising the relevant information about each item.
- a periodic general Compliance Newsletter
- personalised e-mails advising of changes / additions to the site
- an e-mail help desk service
Recognising that the kind of information that will be provided is of interest to a wide range of people working within our members organisations, we will be opening up registration to permit them direct access (as well as receipt of e-mail updates and the Newsletters).
We also hope that our Trade Association members will disseminate the information in turn to their members and have allocated an area for the addition of their logo on the template for the CFFs.
Whilst working as quickly as possible, this goal will take a while to fully realise though we hope that the nucleus of the new section of the web site will be activated during this summer with a limited number of completed CFFs available initially.
More details will be provided when we are ready to go live meanwhile, if you (or a colleague) can assist,
then please, please, please get in touch!
