Euralarm had a very successful meeting with the European Commission Internal Markets to discuss the implementation of the Service Directive and the problems that members had experienced in Italy where alarm companies are forbidden to own and operate Alarm Monitoring Stations. The meeting went very well and Internal Markets asked for a detailed letter on the problem and agreed to take this up with the Italian Government. We are awaiting results!
We also used the opportunity to outline our proposals for a new Services standard and in particular Service competencies. This was well received and supported. They also assured us that they had no plans to change the Directive in the immediate future due to the representations by the member states which will considerably slow down the overall process.
