Monitoring Report for Euralarm July 2012
August 2nd, 2012The European Commission has adopted the Action Plan for an innovative and competitive Security Industry, with an accompanying Commission staff working paper, as the first stepping stone of a dedicated initiative on a Security Industrial Policy. The overarching aim of the proposal is to create a true internal market for security technologies, to enhance the competitiveness of the EU security industry and to unleash its full growth potential.
The European Commission has published the final call for proposals of the FP7 security theme, with an allocated budget of almost €300 million, spread over 54 research topics. It is the largest call for security projects in the history of FP7. This Work Programme is intended to mark the beginning of a new era, in preparation of the next Framework Programme Horizon 2020.
The European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) and the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardisation (CENELEC) will offer free advice to developers of research projects regarding different ways of taking standards into account and linking-up with standardisation activities. CEN and CENELEC are also organising a free information session on 13 September, where participants will learn about how to include standardisation in their project proposals to be submitted under FP7.
