Notes from the President Rel 13.0 - General Assembly 2008

June 12th, 2008

Dear Euralarm Member

These are my last notes as President of Euralarm. At the General Assembly in Sofia my term ended and I have handed the Presidency over to Hansjürg Mahler, representing SES. I know Hansjürg from my professional life, and I know that he will be an excellent President. Congratulations Hansjürg!

I leave Euralarm at an exciting stage. Euralarm has a clear work plan for the years to come: launch of EQM, step up Quo Vadis with initial focus on Services, deal with the Green Agenda, acquire new Members (Service Providers, national associations from new EU member states), manage the CEN/ISO and CENELEC/IEC and the Euralarm/CoESS relationships. In addition there is the on-going very important work in the standing committees related to the development of standards and test procedures.

This workload is indeed heavy, and to tackle it needs the support and dedicated work of you as member of the executive committee, standing committee or the various task groups that work on a project basis. The result of this work will be to the benefit of all stakeholders of the electronic fire and security industry. With EQM and Quo Vadis up and running the market will be supplied with better products, systems and services thus improving the installed base that helps to reduce the risk of fire hazards and burglary, and of unwanted alarms.

I will follow with interest the further development of Euralarm from the outside. At this point I want to thank you for the great support I received from you during my Presidency. Although we did not reach all the targets we have given us Euralarm has accomplished a great deal as you may confirm if you take a look at the wealth of information given on the Euralarm Website. But it was not only the work that was giving me great satisfaction. It was also the personal relationships beyond frontiers that my wife Verena and I could build up I over all these many years. We thank you for these invaluable experiences; we will keep these in good memory. I also thank Siemens, specifically F.-X. Hédon and M. Rebellius for the always encouraging support for my engagement with Euralarm.

I will continue to work for Euralarm on a limited assignment by Siemens, and I am looking forward to seeing some of you again in the times to come.

Thank you again!

With kind regards

Gustav Pfister
