Notes from the President Rel10.0 - Status report on EQM, Service Directive and CPD

Just before the year ends a short note about the status of some important Euralarm projects:


EQM:

At present we are in a very critical phase with our negotiations with the key certifiers. As decided at the industry meeting on 20th July 2006 we must make an effort to involve the key certifiers in defining a EQM scheme that is acceptable to the stakeholders, specifically Euralarm and the certifiers. This now turns out to be a formidable task as our opinions differ in some key points. It is clear that without compromising by all parties involved we cannot get a positive result. With this in mind we are making progress and I am hopeful that we reach an agreement that will be acceptable to all stakeholders involved.


Service Directive (SD)*:

The second reading of service directive was finally approved by the European Parliament on the 15th of November. The Member States (MS) must now start to implement the SD by 2008 and the SD must be...
